Have this company's directors verified their identity?
Type a Companies House number. You get each director and person with significant control, and what the register records about their identity verification.
It shows what the public register says, with the date. It is not a judgement on anyone and it is not legal advice.
How to read the result
- Recorded. The register shows a verification, with the date it took effect.
- Due. Nothing recorded yet, and the register shows a due date that has not passed.
- Check this. Nothing recorded yet. Ask the company, or look again in a few days.
We read the company profile, its officers and its people with significant control from Companies House. Three requests, nothing more.
Frequently asked questions
What does this check show?
For one company, it lists each current director and each individual with significant control. Beside each name it shows what the Companies House register records about their identity verification, and the date that rests on.
Why does identity verification matter?
Companies House began verifying the identity of directors and people with significant control on 18 November 2025. People already in post have a transition period that runs to November 2026. When each person must verify depends on the company and, for people with significant control, on their own details. The register shows a due date when it has one.
Does "check this" mean something is wrong?
No. It means the register does not yet record a verification for that person. They may not be due yet, or the register may not have caught up. It is a prompt to ask, not a judgement. Ask the company or its accountant to confirm.
Who is left out?
Company secretaries do not need to verify, so they are not listed. Directors and controllers that are themselves companies are shown separately, because a different process applies to them.
Is this legal advice?
No. It reads the public register and reports what it says. For what your own company must do, read the Companies House guidance or speak to your accountant or adviser.
Where does the data come from?
The free Companies House public data service. We read it when you press the button and show the time we read it. We do not keep a copy for this free check.
